Reading in 2017

Reading in 2017

As you know I set a quarterly goal to read one book a week from January  through March of 2017. However, what will I be reading in 2017?

My overall goal for reading in 2017 is 50 books.

But I like to break down those books a little bit. So here are the reading challenges I’ve set for myself.

1. Re-read the entire Harry Potter series

I got the illustrated editions of Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber of secrets for Christmas, so I’m going to start there.

2. Read 3 non-fiction books

These could be memoir, biography, about a particular topic, writing craft, anything really.

3. Read as many books by diverse authors, #ownvoices authors, and books with diverse casts as possible.

I recognize that I need to do better in this area, and with so many wonderful books out there it shouldn’t be hard to read these books and support these authors. The library in one of the schools I work in is wonderful at featuring books written by diverse authors and with diverse casts. I’m going to start there.

4. Write one book review a month on my blog.

Amanda’s Nose in a Book was originally started to review books and talk with authors about their books. I’d like to get back to that a little more in the coming year.

There you have it! I will be creating a page where you can track my progress with my goals for reading in 2017. I’ll also be using this page to keep track of my stuff myself.  You can also follow me on Goodreads (I’ll be using their reading challenge to help motivate me).

We can also chat here or on Twitter about books as well! And if you’d like to see photos of the books I’m reading, check me out on Instagram!

What are your goals for reading in 2017? Are you setting any challenges for yourself?
