Words of Wisdom

“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live”- Albus Dumbledore from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

This week’s quote for words of wisdom is an oldie, but a goodie. It is a quote that has resonated with me since I first picked up a Harry Potter book in 7th grade. Since then, my world has never been the same. I have always loved books and reading, but the world of Harry Potter offered me my first real escape from every day life through a book. This whole series has some wonderful quotes, some serious or sad, and others funny and light-hearted. Like so many people, this series has helped me though quite a few rough spots in my life and some of these quotes helped to keep me going.

What is your favorite quote from the Harry Potter series?

Mine’s actually also a Dumbledore quote – “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” I have it tattooed on the outside of my left calf as a permanent reminder.

I need to cheat here because I don’t think I have a favorite quote from the series, other than the funny ones, such as “If we die for them, Harry, I’ll kill you!” (or something along those lines. Don’t have the book in front of me) I just really love this whole series.

Oh they’re so many!!! One of them is:
“Albus Severus,” Harry said quietly, so that nobody but Ginny could hear, and she was tactful enough to pretend to be waving to Rose, who was now on the train, “you were named for two headmasters of Hogwarts. One of them was a Slytherin and he was probably the bravest man I ever knew.”
