A-Z Challenge Day 1(A) – About Amanda's Nose in a Book

AHooray! Today is April 1st, so Happy April Fool’s day and Happy “A” Day!

Curious about the A-Z challenge? Learn more about it here

For my first post for the A-Z challenge, I chose to let you know a little bit more about me and about my blog, Amanda’s Nose in a Book.

So, here it goes fabulous people!!!

  • Amanda’s Nose in a Book began in June of 2013 as a way for me to talk about the books I’ve read and as a way for me to use my education.
  • Typically I post book reviews and discussions, weekly features and memes, and updates about the book I’m writing.
  • I mainly read Young Adult (YA) but some of the books I read are written for adults.
  • Reading and blogging is what got me through last winter. It was very cold, snowy, and incredibly long!
  • I also like crocheting, going for long walks with my camera, summer, Doctor Who, and Despicable Me.
  • I decided to participate in the A-Z challenge to meet new friends and find some awesome new blogs to read!

Leave me a comment and tell me a little bit about yourself and your blog!

I will be sure to take a peek at all of your blogs if you leave me a link!

I am from a tiny college town (Oswego, NY) right on Lake Ontario. We have brutal winters but the rest of the year is gorgeous here. Summer would have to be my favorite season, especially being right on the lake, but fall is my second favorite (if for nothing but apples — I live in apple country).

Unfortunately I am not currently teaching, as much as I might like to. Teaching jobs are few and far between where I live and I’m unable to move out of state right now. But it has changed the way I read, but not necessarily in a nit-picky way. It makes me more critical and reflective as to how these books would effect the people that read them (student or adult).

I think I may have written you a novel of a comment πŸ˜‰

It is nice to meet you Amanda. I am looking forward to reading more about you, the book you are writing and the ones you read.
    Good luck with the Challenge.

Hello from a fellow book blogger! I read quite a bit of YA, although my blogging focuses on nineteenth and early to mid-twentieth century writers. I’m a huge Harry Potter fan & could probably fill all 25 days with HP posts. But I will refrain!

That was a great first post (letting others get to know more about your blog)! You already stopped by my blog, The Write Soil. I started my blog originally for writing, but lately I’ve been reading and doing book reviews, so that is what I post now.

Visiting from the A-Z Challenge. Hello Amanda! I’m Amanda. I also love to read so I was drawn to your blog from the title. I knit (am horrible at crochet) and I also, from time to time, share book reviews on my blog. Seems like we have a lot in common. That’s cool! πŸ™‚

Nice! I like what you did here, using the A for “About” that’s an excellent way to go if one of your goals is meet new friends, and now we all know you a bit better πŸ™‚

I don’t read much YA myself, but my sister studies it and is doing the whole challenge on girls in YA lit. I’ll be happy to drop you a link if you haven’t discovered her already.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog, you’re the second new blog I’ve visited for the challenge.

      Thank you, Gene!

I always love to meet new bloggers and YA lovers, so I’d be happy to check out your sister’s blog too! One of the reasons I read a lot of YA is because I hope to someday be able to use my teaching degree and teach middle or high school. Finding a lot of great YA for my future students to read and enjoy is fun for me as an adult as well πŸ™‚

You’re welcome! And thank you for checking out and following my blog. It is much appreciated.
