What I'm Reading & Writing Wednesday

Woah! It’s been a while again (whoops). But things have been pretty productive, which is positive! And it’s time for What I’m Reading & Writing Wednesday so I can catch all of you up on what I’ve been up to lately. This feature is my spin on WWW Wednesday, originally started by Miz B at Should Be Reading and now hosted by Taking on a World of Words.tumblr_lsio63zudZ1qbl11oo1_500Basically my life is being eaten by adult things, no matter how much I want to do other things. Ick.

What I just finished reading…

Good news is that my reading slump is over. While I’m still focusing on writing I’ve found time for a little bit of reading. That has helped me with writing immensely, as I really needed to escape the world of TGGC for a little while. I’m hoping to post reviews soon.

What I’m Reading Now…

dreamless-225Dreamless by Josephine Angelini, the sequel to Starcrossed. It’s an interesting trilogy so far and a fun read.

What I Will Be Reading Next…

I will probably read Goddess (the third book in the Starcrossed trilogy) next because I borrowed it from the library. But after that I would like to read Her Dark Curiosity by Megan Shepherd, the sequel to The Madman’s Daughter.

What I’m Writing…

I’m excited to say that I have finally chosen an ending for The Girl in the Glass Coffin. I had three in mind and that alone was daunting to me. As you might know, I plan on making this a duology, or a trilogy. Finding an ending that wrapped this part of the story up, but left it open for more was scary to me. It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a year and a half now. But I believe I’ve found it! Yay!

Anyway, I’m currently working on Chapter 26. There are only about 5-6 more chapters left for me to write for this particular draft. I am so excited. Now the one thing I am struggling with is word count. See, this draft will be about 60-62k words when all is said and done, but people are telling me that’s too short for an upper YA novel.

What are your thoughts on this? Have you faced this problem before?

What I’m Up To…

Work (the day job), work (the writing group), and more work (my novel). In between I’m still doing roller derby (which I still adore) and spending time with the boyfriend. See… adult things. Yuck 😉

What are you reading and/or writing this week?
