Books I'd Like to See as a Television Show or Movie

Last week, we found out that the Shatter Me Trilogy by Tahereh Mafi is going to be made into a TV show!

I loved this series, even though the first book was a little difficult for me to get into. The character development over the course of the trilogy was great and I think between the romance and action that it would make for a very interesting and entertaining television show. Congrats Tahereh.

This gets me thinking about some other books I’ve read since beginning Amanda’s Nose in a Book that would make for great movies or tv shows. So here’s my list. I’d love to hear what you think!

Movies

1. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

I loved this book, the tone and imagery were lovely and I believe that it would transfer very nicely to film.

2. Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard

something strange & deadly

I just finished reading this book, and haven’t had a chance to pick up the 2nd two, but the exciting nature of this novel— zombies in Victorian-era Boston, would make for a perfect movie.

3. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

This series would make such a beautiful and gripping movie trilogy!

4. The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater

scorpioThere’s something about they mythical horses and the setting of this novel that make the plot a treat! I’d love to see it in theaters!

Television

1. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

I chose this as a television show because I can see the stories of each of these heroines unfolding over the course of a season (or series). Seeing how they intertwine season after season would be so much fun.

2. The Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan

BLOOD_OF_O_final_cvrI know that they have made Percy Jackson films, but I would really like to see this series translated to television series form. One reason for this is the sheer number of main characters and points of view we see this story from. I imagine this series would be similar to LOST where each episode would be dedicated to a specific character and their back stories.

What books would you like to see made into a TV show or movie (if done well, of course)?

Great post. I haven’t read any of the books you mentioned. I would love to see the study series as a tv series. Theres quite a few I would love to see as film, the mythos academy series would be great 🙂

Totally agree with Night Circus and Daughter of Smoke & Bone. Those books are so visual anyway, they would be perfect on film, as long as they didn’t ruin the story. I love the idea of the Cinder books as a TV show too – you’re idea is brilliant. Maybe we’ll get lucky and they’ll do that some day.
