What I'm Reading and Writing Wednesday

whatimreadingandwritingwednesday

Hey everyone, it’s Wednesday again and time to catch up with what I’m reading & writing this week. What I’m Reading & Writing Wednesday is my spin on WWW Wednesday, hosted by Taking on a World of Words. Lipsyy also has a great, similar feature over on her blog called This Week in Books. Drop by and check them both out 🙂 .

What I’m Reading…

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to finish any books in this last week, but I did pick up a couple from the bookstore over the weekend. I bought Under the Lights by Dahlia Adler and Before Tomorrowland. I’m really excited to read both of these books over the Summer.

What I’m Reading Now…

I’m currently reading A Darkness Strange and Lovely by Susan Dennard. It’s the second book in the Something Strange and Deadly trilogy. I’m liking it so far, even though it’s not as action packed to me as the first book was. Still, it’s not really draggy, I just want to get to the really fun stuff.

I’m also back to reading A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab, which I found in a really weird spot the other day. But I’m very glad that I found it. I will be finishing this after A Darkness Strange and Lovely.

What I’m Reading Next…

Either A Court of Thorns and Roses or Throne of Glass, both by Sarah J. Maas. I have a copy of both and don’t know which one to read first— which would you recommend?

Question, do any of you ever leave books in strange places and misplace them? Do you search until you find it, or do you start something else in the meantime?

What I’m Writing…

Last week I had the serious writing blahs. This week I’m feeling a bit better as I’ve finally finished Chapter 3 and have moved on to Chapter 4 of The Girl in the Glass Coffin. This chapter is actually progressing nicely with the revisions and edits that I’ve done so far and I’m quite happy with it.

In order for me to finish this book by the end of the year, I need to revise/edit 2 chapters a week and send them to my awesome critique partners and tweak based on their comments. I really need to have TGGC finished by the end of October and ready to query by December.

There is a lot going on in life right now and sometimes it gets in the way of writing and other daily stuff. It’s no one’s fault really, but I’ve been very distracted lately. Sometimes writing helps, I can forget real life for a while and live in the Thornfield Bed and Breakfast with my characters. Other times, I can’t seem to channel my emotions and use them to write. Luckily, yesterday was super productive. Cheers all around for that.

What are you reading and/or writing this week?

I loved A Darker Shade of Magic. It is the only book I’ve read this year I would give an unconditional five-star rating. A Court of Thorns and Roses is going really well so far, but this is my first book by Sarah J. Maas so I can’t advise whether you should go for ACOTAR or Throne of Glass… sorry 🙁

The past few days I have been suffering from a lack of inspiration with my second novel. Yesterday was a better writing day – I’m glad it was for you too!

Thank for visiting my WWW. Happy ready and writing! 🙂

I’m loving A Darker Shade of Magic and was so upset when I couldn’t find it last week. It’s such a fantastic story though and the world sucks me in.

Hmmm maybe I will read ACOTAR next. It seems like the book everyone is reading at the moment. I’m usually really behind on that because I have so many other books I need to read.

Thanks for visiting and following my little blog. I hope we can talk more about ADSOM and ACOTAR after I’ve finished them both.

It seems that a lot of people are reading A Court of Thorns and Roses at the moment. I should probably add it to my TBR and see what all the fuss is about. Happy reading!

Good luck with your book! You always remind me that I need to fill us on my book. I’m almost to the end of my second draft, I just have to focus and do it! Happy reading (and writing) and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

How awesome that you’re almost to the end of your second draft. I’d love to learn a little about your novel.

Are you participating in Camp NaNo next month? That might be the push you need! I’m hoping it will help me get to Chapter 10 or 11 with my 4th (and hopefully final-ish) draft of TGGC!

I’ve heard great things about the Something Strange & Deadly trilogy! I own all three books in the series, and I can’t wait ’till I read them. Hope you enjoy the series!
I also own and heard great things about A Darker Shade of Magic. It seems really interesting, and I’m glad to hear you’re not regretting picking it up. 🙂

Ooh, A Court of Thorns and Roses vs. Throne of Glass!! I loved both books, but I guess I would say go with ACOTAR first. (However I love both books almost equally!) XD
Thanks for visiting my post, and good luck with your writing! I have been attempting to write a story myself but have mostly abandoned it… oops! <3

The Something Strange and Deadly trilogy has been so much fun so far, I would even like a movie trilogy to be adapted from the novels. It would be quite the adventure!

Hmmm ACOTAR might be the way to go. I’m getting a lot of people suggesting that I read that one first.

Thanks for visiting my blog and for the well wishes with my writing projects. You should try to pick yours back up! 🙂 <3

That’s great to hear, I’m going to try and get to them over the summer. 🙂
Well in that case I hope you enjoy ACOTAR! 😉 It really is an amazing book, and I hope you enjoy it!
No problem, you have a really cool blog. I actually might start again with writing, since I have more time and inspiration over the summer. <3
