What I’m Reading & Writing Wednesday

Hello and happy Wednesday! What I’m Reading and Writing Wednesday is my weekly feature where I talk about what’s going on in my bookish life (mostly reading, writing, and blogging). This feature is my own spin on WWW Wednesday, hosted by Sam over at Taking on a World of Words and My Week in Books over at Lipsyy Lost and Found!

Let’s get to it!

What I’m Reading this Week…

I just finished…

The Diviners by Libba Bray. I first read this book way back when I started this blog, already being a fan of Bray’s Gemma Doyle trilogy. See that review here. I must say that I love The Diviners even more the second time around. The characters were so layered and had quirks, flaws, and dark secrets. As some people in my book club have mentioned, I was kind of disappointed in the lack of wrap-up on some of the character’s stories. However I am so excited for the sequel to come out next month and will probably be reading it this fall.

What I’m Reading Now…

Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas. I feel like I’ve been waiting so long to get into this book when in reality it’s only been a couple of weeks! I just started it yesterday on my lunch hour and am already about half-way through it!

What I’m Reading Next…

20613470Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas. Which I will probably also fly through. So good!

What I’m Writing…

I’m really glad that last month was so productive writing-wise, because this month I’m just not feeling it. It might be the usual writing cycle for me- one month of pure focused writing bliss followed by a month of the writing doldrums, but it feels pretty shitty.

I am working on a scene list for all of the chapters I’ve revised so far in Draft 4. I’m hoping that this will keep me on track. I read a great article from The Write Practice about how keeping a scene list can help keep writers on track. And even Laurie Halse Anderson has written about it on her blog .

Next month, my lovely CP Diana and I are doing a Camp NaNoWriMo-esque thing where we set a word count or chapter goal and see if we can reach it. I need to stay productive if this draft of TGGC is going to get done before the end of the year!

I have The Diviners on my TBR and after reading your review I think I’m going to have to bump it nearer to the top, particularly if I can read it in time for the sequel 🙂

Thanks for visiting my WWW post. Happy reading (and writing – I’m in a bit of slump too – I hope things pick up)!

It’s so good Claire! Have you read anything else by Libba Bray? She’s fantastic!
Good luck getting out of your slump as well <3

Yes! I am so excited to hear more of Memphis’ story, and get some resolution for Sam and Jericho. Such great characters. Thanks for stopping by, Sam 🙂

I’d love to have you on board for a NaNoWri next month! It will be lax, like camp but I find that having those daily/weekly/monthly goals for myself really ups my productivity!

      Thanks for stopping by!

I’m so into Crown of Midnight right now that it’s hard for me to do much of anything else. Like sleep or work. That’s when I know I have a good book/series on my hands 🙂

I’m loving the series so far! I am hoping to finish the rest of the series before the next book comes out 🙂
