What I’m Reading & Writing Wednesday

Hello and happy Wednesday! I missed What I’m reading and writing Wednesday again last week, so here’s a super fun and long one to catch you all up! This is a weekly feature (at least it’s supposed to be) that is my spin on WWW Wednesday hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and My Week in Books hosted at Lipsyy Lost and Found.

Woohoo… I finished reading these books!

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas took me only a couple of days to get through, even though it’s almost 700 pages. tumblr_nukhfuw4oL1ufdrieo1_250I freaking loved it! I hope to write a couple of posts (or make a video blog) about this whole series since I am so obsessed with it. Basically, Queen of Shadows made me feel like this.

The entire time.

Speaking of the lovely Felicia Day, I finally finished her memoir You’re Never Weird on the Internet (Almost). It was just as funny and quirky as I’d hoped it would be.

And I also finished Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo, the second book in the Grisha Trilogy.

My Nose is Currently In…

theassassinsbladeThe Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas. I’m loving it so far, although I have to say I’ve enjoyed the books more. It is cool to get the backstory on Celaena though.

Next Up…

14061957Maybe Ruin and Rising (the third book in the Grisha Trilogy) or a standalone… I haven’t read a single standalone novel yet this year and that makes me sad.

Do you have any good standalone novels that you recommend?

What I’m Writing…

As I’ve mentioned before, my writing goal for September was 10k words. As of my last post, I’d only written 2993 of those 10k. Right now I have….

Current Word Count:  9,015

Words Left to Write:  985

And considering I have the day off from work today, I can totally do those last 985 words! Just have to get caught up with some bloggy stuff and get more coffee in me and I’m good to go!

I’m currently revising Chapter 20 of TGGC. It’s going really well and I’ve been using the small amount of time I’ve had to write these past couple of weeks very wisely. In the 2 hours between when I get out of work (subbing) and when Matt does, I get a decent chunk of writing done!

And it’s almost October, bring on the NaNoWriMo planning and brainstorming!

What are you reading and writing this week? Are you getting ready for NaNoWriMo?

Thanks Holly! Even if this draft of my novel isn’t done, I plan on working on my story ideas for NaNoWriMo. Sometimes I have to set aside my WIP and work on something else. Does that work for you?

I hope that you like the Sarah J. Maas books. She builds such amazing worlds and intriguing characters. <3 Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Brilliant writing stats! I’ve had a dismal couple of months but will be signing up for NaNoWriMo to see if I can’t get a first draft of my second book finished.

I enjoyed Queen of Shadows very much – especially the final movement. I think there were points where I forgot to breathe 🙂

Thanks for visiting my WWW and happy reading&writing.

Thanks Claire. I was hoping for better writing stats, but meeting my first goal was definitely an accomplishment. I’m doing NaNoWriMo as well, so there will be plenty of writing-related posts in the next month.

Hmmm, I just tried thinking of some good stand-alones and realised I’ve mostly been reading series this year, too. The stand alones I’ve read have been really big well-publicised ones like The Martian and The Book Thief.

Congrats on the awesome word count! I have made it to 10k in a month before, I should maybe try it again over December or January.
