Welcome to my writing space, the place in my home that is on any given day the most or least productive place that I spend my time. One of the most important tips I have for surviving NaNoWriMo is having a comfortable place to write with as few distractions as possible. So let’s take a look at mine!
Author Kami Garcia, has a great weekly blog post where she shows what’s on her desk that week. I would like to make that a once or twice monthly post to show you what I have and use in my writing space to keep me as productive as possible!
This is where lately, I’ve been spending a few hours a day, usually writing— mostly trying to stay off of YouTube and Twitter. I try to keep this space from being totally cluttered, as I need my writing space to be the least distracting it can possibly be. And I love that my monitor is more at eye-level for me, so I’m not looking down on it and hurting my neck/back!
So what’s on my desk?
Toys! Yes I am one of those people who always has to have toys on their desk. From ones that I made myself (which you will see later) to pop figures and even small stuffed animals. You would think that they distract me, but having them there often helps me concentrate. Baby Groot and golfing minion were desk toys from my last job that made it to my home work/writing space.
There is always a coffee mug (or two!) in my writing space with my hot tasty beverage (usually caffeinated) of choice. I have a thing for cute coffee mugs, it’s a problem really. But that’s a topic for a different post!
My notebook for my NaNoWiMo 2015 WIP is also on my desk (or in my bag that I take with me everywhere I go) during the month of November. I just finished Library of Souls and it’s here to remind me to bring it back to the library this weekend so I don’t have overdue fees. Typically I have one of the books I’m reading on my desk, the other is usually on my nightstand!
