Oh my poor, neglected blog. It’s been so long since I’ve posted. I’ve written about a dozen posts with every intention of finishing and publishing them, but it just never happened.
But there have been so many good things happening lately.
First, I finished the 4th draft of The Girl in the Glass Coffin in February. Since then I have written, re-written, re-re-written, a query letter. Now I just have to get the guts to send the letter, and the first chapter of my book to literary agents and keep my fingers crossed that one of them loves my story just as much as I do.
Second (and perhaps the most exciting thing to happen to me in years), I got a long-term substitute teaching position! I’m teaching English to both middle and high school students as well as middle school science at a small school where I live. It’s been an exciting and eye-opening experience for me so far and I’m really enjoying it.
So yeah, I haven’t been writing or blogging much and that’s going to change this month.
Even though I need to get on top of querying, even though I’m teaching every day, I’m doing Camp NaNoWriMo.
Part of me thinks that I’m insane for even trying this right now. What am I thinking??? I have to plan for 2 English classes and a science class every day.
But I need this. I need to write. For my own sanity.
Of course one of the awesome things about Camp NaNoWriMo is that I can create my own goal, and up it if I reach the first one. So I’m starting small and not putting quite so much pressure on myself by making my first goal 10k. If I hit that I will raise the goal by 5k. And I will be working on revisions for the novel I wrote in 2014, a steampunk fantasy that I just can’t get out of my head.
So, bring it on, April! The plan is for me to update here every day and at least tell you how the writing is coming along. Talk to you later!
