What I'm Reading & Writing Wednesday

whatimreadingandwritingwednesdayI haven’t been very good at this blogging thing since I made a goal to do it 2-3 times a week, but I’m working on it– I swear! Anyway, today is Wednesday! That means I get to catch up on what everyone is reading/writing and what they are doing in general!!! This is my own spin on WWW Wednesday, which is now hosted by Taking on a World of Words!

What I’m Reading…

Half-BadPicked up Half Bad by Sally Green again! Haven’t read too much but it does feel nice to read again, even if it is only a couple of pages a day.

What I’m Writing…

– Blog posts! I want to get on top of this and not let my poor little blog be neglected.

– Chapter 23 of The Girl in the Glass Coffin. After Chapter 22, I was at 43k words— which I think is pretty awesome :). This week my goal is to finish & send Chapter 23 to my CPs and begin working on Chapter 24.

– A lesson for my writing group on Saturday on Social Media for Writers!

 What I’m Up To:

– Roller derby!!! I’m having a blast with it. We’ve been skating for a little over 2 weeks now and while it’s whooping my butt every Tues & Fri nights, I love it.

– Writing group!!! I might post about this very soon.

– Wishing it was spring already, dammit!

What are you reading or writing this week???

What I'm Reading & Writing Wednesday

Hello there. What’s up everyone? How goes it?

It’s time for What I’m Reading & Writing Wednesday! Let’s see how much I’m slacking this week (yikes).

What I’m Reading…

Half-BadNothing really. I still haven’t finished Half Bad even though I have read a couple more chapters. It’s a good book, I’m just being a slacker. Most of my focus has been on my writing. If I want to reach my goal of reading 50 books this year I have to get on that— and soon.

What I’m Writing…

I am about half-way through writing Chapter 20 of The Girl and the Glass Coffin. I hope to finish that one this week and move onto Chapter 21. We’re getting to the really exciting part of my novel, which i am really excited to revise and write. It shall be good times.

I haven’t been too great about writing for one hour each day like I wrote about last week, but I am writing something each day (even if it is for only 20 minutes to a half an hour). My computer at home is our of commission, so I have to borrow Matt’s if I want to get anything done. Most of my work is hand-written nowadays and then hurriedly typed up at work when I have a moment.

What I’m Up To…

Roller derby is kicking my ass. Hard. But it’s so much fun and the group of girls I am training with are really nice. It’s wonderful to have met new people and made new friends, especially because I am usually more of an introvert.

I’m also crocheting a lot again to make money to pay for my derby gear. Fun times.

What are you reading and/or writing this week?

Also, what are some topics that you would like to see me blog about, either reading or writing related? I need inspiration!

I hope that you have a happy week of reading!

What I'm Reading & Writing Wednesday!

whatimreadingandwritingwednesdayHello friends, it’s time to recap what I am reading and writing this week! What I’m Reading and Writing Wednesday is my spin on Miz B’s WWW Wednesday.

I’m not going to lie to you. I have sucked at reading this year. At least I’m almost done with My True Love Gave to me. I only have one more story left, Laini Taylor’s The Girl Who Woke the Dreamer. I am the most excited for this one. I adore Laini Taylor’s writing.

What I am reading now…

Half-BadHalf Bad by Sally Green. I picked this up yesterday while I was waiting for practice, so I am only a couple of chapters in, but it is really interesting so far. The writing style takes some getting used to. I’m not used to reading in 2nd person, but I’m liking it.

What I Will Read Next…

Not sure yet. I always plan to read something in particular and it never happens that way.

What I’m Writing…

Chapter 19 of The Girl in the Glass Coffin!!! This will be a completely new chapter, so I’m taking my time and trying to make it as good as I can before sending it to my Critique Partners.

What I’m Up To…

I joined roller derby yesterday. No lie! Yesterday was our first practice and I am feeling it today but I’m still very excited for the next practice on Friday!!!

Other than that— work, my crochet mood blanket, and trying to keep up with housework.

What I'm Reading & Writing Wednesday

Wow! 2014 is almost over, and 2015 is only hours away. It’s been a while since I’ve done a What I’m Reading and Writing Wednesday, but I figure it is nice to end this year on a positive blogging note!

Reading has taken kind of a back seat these past couple of months with me preparing for NaNoWriMo and then going back to revisions in December, but here is what is going on in my reading world.

What I recently finished reading:

I read Shatter Me in the beginning of 2014 and had mixed feelings about it. It had a cool concept, but I was unsure if I wanted to continue with the series. Then mid-NaNoWriMo I was at the library and needing a break from my own writing for a while I picked up Unravel Me. I enjoyed this book much more than I did the first in the series and sped through it to read Ignite Me. I liked the characters much better in this book (Juliette was much less annoying and I actually warmed up to and began to like Warner). I probably won’t review these on here, just because I am so behind with writing reviews, but I did like both of them.

What I’m Reading Now

mytrueloveMy True Love Gave to Me by Stephanie Perkins. I am loving it so far. The stories are all very cute, even though I like some more than others. I will hopefully be reviewing this book here really soon because I am almost finished reading it.

What I’m Reading Next

thenightcircusI’m not going to lie to you. I never finished reading The Night Circus a while back. So I would like to finish that one, because I did like it. Life just kind of got in the way of reading it and then I never finished it.

And I would really like to read Blood of Olympus or Blue Lily, Lily Blue after that!

What I’m Writing…

I’m currently writing Chapter 17 of The Girl in the Glass Coffin to send to my CP. It’s new stuff that I am writing to expand upon certain aspects of my first two drafts, so it’s quite a bit of work. I’m slowly but surely getting back into writing this novel again.  I’m also sending this book chapter by chapter to a new CP, her feedback is really helping me to fine-tune some issues and find out if things just don’t work.

So have a wonderful New Year.

Stay safe, have fun! Find me next year!!!

What I'm Reading & Writing Wednesday!

whatimreadingandwritingwednesdayHello friends! What I’m Reading and Writing Wednesday is my spin on WWW Wednesday brought to us by the fabulous MizB over at Should Be Reading. Thank you MizB for hosting such a great weekly feature.

What I’m Reading…

thenightcircus*Hides* I know, I know— I have been reading The Night Circus for the past 2 weeks too. I am much closer to finishing now though and I hope to be done by next week. I only have a couple of hours available to read per week, so I keep plugging away at this book because I love it 🙂

What I’m Writing…

– Blog posts! I am having so much fun getting back into blogging. I kind of forgotten during my hiatus how time consuming blogging is, so I’m trying to make more of a schedule for myself.

– Chapters for The Girl in the Glass Coffin. I only sent my CP one chapter last week, and haven’t sent her anything this week, but I feel like I am in a bit of a funk with the current chapter I am writing/revising. I guess I just need to get it out and see what she things. It’s going to be one I have to work on a lot after she responds to it. I am going to try to finish it up today and start work on Chapter 16.

What I’m Up To…

– ML stuff for NaNoWriMo (which will probably be it’s own post) here pretty soon as today is October 1st!

– I have a craft show this weekend so I am working hard to make some cute and cuddly hats to sell there.

– Christmas presents— I know that Christmas is a while away and I personally hate to think about Christmas before Halloween, but I love to give hand-made presents (usually by me, sometimes by a friend) — so I started working on one gift and am trying to come up with what I want to give my family, Matt’s family, and friends.

What I'm Reading & Writing Wednesday

whatimreadingandwritingwednesdayWhat I’m Reading and Writing Wednesday is my spin on WWW Wednesday brought to us by the fabulous MizB over at Should Be Reading. Thank you MizB for hosting such a great weekly feature.

What I’m Reading…

Things haven’t changed much since last week. I am still reading The Night Circus, although I’m quite a bit farther along in the book than I was last Wednesday. Reading has been going pretty slow for me this last week as writing has taken even more of my focus.

thenightcircusI don’t really like when it takes me forever to read a book. It’s not that I forget what is going on or anything like that, but I have to get re-immersed in the writing and the world each time I pick up the book (especially because I might only get a chance to read every couple of days).

How do you guys feel about that?

What I’m Writing…

This week my goal is to get Chapters 14 and 15 to my critique partner. She absolutely loved the last chapter I sent her, so I am kind of nervous about sending this next chapter— what if it’s not as good? Anyway, my last draft of this particular chapter needs some serious work. I have to get some extra writing hours in to get those two chapters to her this week.  We shall see, friends.

What I’m Up to…

It’s craft show season, so I have to also keep crocheting away in the hopes of making a couple of $$ to heat my house this winter (we already had a 36*F day– eek). I am also doing more NaNoWriMo preparations!

What I'm Reading & Writing Wednesday

Hello friends! Long time no see! I have been busy making cute and cuddly crochet things for all of the fall craft shows I have scheduled. But I would also like to start the blog back up again too. Here’s to a successful relaunch.

What I’m Reading Now:

thenightcircusThe Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. Yes, after hearing about this book from countless bloggers and vloggers I am finally diving into this one. It’s not exactly what I expected, but there is such beautiful imagery and description. It’s taking me a bit longer to read because I’m savoring it.

What I’m Reading Next:

0-545-05474-5I’ve had this book on my shelf since the spring and have yet to get to it, but I would like to read it very soon. Autumn makes me want to curl up with a good book anyway.

What I’m Writing:

Writing is where I have been focusing a lot of my time lately. I am planning on expanding what I blog about to talk about writing on a larger scale and have been drafting some blog posts and brainstorming different ways that I can talk with all of your about writing.

I am still working on Draft 3 of my novel The Girl in the Glass Coffin. Even though this has been a slow process, I’m trying to get a chapter or two a week to my critique partner. The goal was to be finished with Draft 3 before NaNoWriMo. I’m working on Chapter 13 right now and I’m about half-way there. Maybe I can finish this draft if I can up that up to at least two, maybe 3 chapters revised per week.

What you can look for from Amanda’s Nose in a Book:

  •  Posts about NaNoWriMo and why you should do it! (I’m an ML this year, so I’m already prepping).
  • Pantsing vs planning
  • Sharing your writing with others
  • The usual memes that I participate in
  • Hopefully a book review every other week (maybe every week if I can work more reading in with my writing).

And much more!

What I'm Reading & Writing Wednesday!

Hello there again, time to catch up with one another and discuss what we are reading, writing, and/or are working on this week. This feature is my own little spin on MizB’s WWW Wednesday, over at Should Be Reading. If you haven’t checked her blog out yet, you definitely should!

What I Finished Reading…

15792316I finished Split Second, the sequel to Pivot Point the other day and really enjoyed it. Hopefully tomorrow or Friday I will be posting a review! Overall, I have been very impressed with both books and love Kasie West’s writing style.

What I am Currently Reading…

BookCover_Lost_in_StarlightLost in Starlight by Sherry Soule. This book is going to be released on Thursday, June 26th. I hope to have a review up this week. So far, I think Lost in Starlight is a lot of fun. The main character is quirky and likeable.

What I am going to read next….

I’m not quite sure, honestly. I have a couple of choices, but I think I am going to pick one that is on my shelf that has been there for a while.

What I’m Writing…

As a result of my Camp NaNoWriMo post the other day, I started talking to Megan over at LifeWriterMegan and she and I traded the first chapters of our novels. I have always been terrified to share my writing with other people, even those who I am close to. However, it’s been a really nice process so far! Constructive criticism can only help to my my writing and my novel that much stronger.

So I am working on my novel again, draft 3. And I will continue to work on it during Camp NaNoWriMo and hopefully continue to get some feedback from other writers. It’s really the only way to push forward and get this novel written and ready to self-publish!

I probably won’t be reading all that much during the month of July, while I am working on my Camp NaNo novel. I really need to take some time off to focus on writing. So I will probably only read 1-2 books the whole month. While reading books gives me inspiration, I really can’t have the distraction.

What are you reading this week?

What I'm Reading & Writing Wednesday!

whatimreadingandwritingwednesdayHappy Wednesday! What I’m Reading and writing Wednesday is my own spin on MizB’s WWW Wednesday. You should check out her blog over at Should Be Reading.

What I just finished reading:

Last week I finished Dreams of Gods and Monsters (you can read my review here) and I finished reading Pivot Point on Sunday. My review for that book should be posted later this week!

What I’m Reading Now:

15792316I am currently reading Split Second, the sequel to Pivot Point by Kasie West. It is formatted a bit differently, but I’m liking it so far.

What I will read next:

BookCover_Lost_in_StarlightLost in Starlight by Sherry Soule! Sherry contacted me a couple of weeks or so ago to read her newest novel (to be released June 26th!) The idea seems pretty cool, so I’m excited to see what it’s about. I will be posting a guest post from Sherry Soule on Thursday, which will have an excerpt from the novel, so keep an eye out!!!

What I’m Writing:

I have been trying a new approach to outlining and drafting, which I will go into more in a later post (hopefully this week) and it seems to be working so far! It has been very helpful in organizing my ideas from my first draft and the beginning of my second draft into something that will hopefully resemble a coherent, well-developed, and hopefully “good” book!

I signed up to do Camp NaNoWriMo during July and I’m not sure if I want to continue working on The Girl in the Glass Coffin (the book I have been working on since NaNoWriMo 2013) or start a whole new project (which would most likely be Confessions of an Ice Cream Girl). Both novels are calling to me. While Glass Coffin is coming along very slowly I am actually quite happy with what I am doing and working on right now. However, this other story is calling to me.

What would you suggest I do?

Are any of you doing Camp NaNoWriMo in July? We can choose private cabins now, and say who we would like to be in a cabin with, which is great! Would any of you like to be in a cabin with me?
